'God doesn’t let you down. People do. Don’t lose sight of Him because you’re burdened by the actions of others.' - Lance Knight, Pages of Promise by Jessica Ashley.

God Doesn’t Let You Down—People Do

Disappointment is one of life’s hardest battles. Whether it comes from a broken promise, a betrayal, or an unexpected loss, the sting of being let down can shake us to our core. It can break our spirit and crush all joy until it feels like there's nothing left. And in those moments, it’s easy to let that pain harden our hearts—to pull back, close off, and wonder if we can ever truly trust again.

But here’s the truth: God doesn’t let you down. People do.

This isn’t to say the pain doesn’t matter—it does. But the truth is, we were never promised peace in this life. " I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33).

Jesus overcame the world. He defeated death. He alone is how we enter into new life.

Even in those moments where you feel most alone, where the weight of the world is crushing down upon your shoulders and you struggle to even do something as simple as draw breath, remember that you are not alone.

The same God who parted the waters...

Who rescued Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego from the flames...

Who shut the mouth of the lions...

Walks with you today

One of my all-time favorite songs right now, is Fear Not by Riley Clemmons. The ENTIRE song is such an amazing portrayal of the strength we find in God. But there's this one part in particular that gives me CHILLS anytime I hear it:

"Fear not the lion for it fears the lamb!"

(I totally just sang that in my head as I wrote it!)

There's just something so powerful about those words and knowing that God is ALL WE NEED. That He is so absolutely powerful, yet He loves us, even with as flawed as we are. There is nothing...NOTHING that God cannot handle.

And in those moments when I am feeling weighted down by life, when my past sneaks back up to the front of my mind reminding me that I'm not good enough, I turn to Him. Because He loves me. He sees me. And He will never leave me.

If you haven't listened to that song, you need to add it to your playlist!

Eliza’s Story: A Reflection of Real-Life Pain in Fiction

In Pages of Promise, Eliza knows what it’s like to be abandoned. Her parents left her. The man she thought she’d love forever used her, abused her, and broke her trust in both people and God. Disappointment after disappointment built walls around her heart, convincing her she was safer alone.

But God never gave up on her.

Even when Eliza felt forgotten, He was there. Even when she thought she was beyond saving, He had a plan. And step by step, through trials and unexpected love, she discovered what had been true all along: God’s love is unwavering.

Faith Through Fiction

This is why faith-filled romance matters. Because while the stories are fiction, their messages are very real. We all know what it’s like to be hurt, to wrestle with doubt, to wonder if God is still writing a good story out of our pain. And we need the reminder that He is.

If you’ve been struggling with disappointment, let this encourage you:

💛 God sees your heart.
💛 He knows your pain.
💛 Your story isn’t over yet.
💛 If it isn't good, then He isn't done.

The road to healing may not be easy, but you don’t have to walk it alone. God is faithful—always. And He will never let you down.

Have you ever faced a season of deep disappointment? What helped you cling to God’s promises?
